Atheist Shoes and the United States Postal Service

Through a web site called Slash Dot, I came across a story about a company in Germany called Atheist Shoes. After hearing stories about problems with their packages when shipped to the United States, they performed an experiment. To an Asatru person, the results were not a surprise.

They shipped packages to a bunch of customers in the U.S. half with their Atheist branding and half without. Each customer received one of each package. The shipments went through the United States Postal Service (USPS). The Atheist branded packages suffered a statistically significant number of delays compared to the non-branded packages. These were delays to the same customers, i.e.: the customer would receive the non-branded box first.

The company then repeated the experiment, shipping shoes throughout Europe. The delay issues didn't appear in Europe. It was only when they shipped through the USPS that these delays occurred. As a result, they are no longer using their company branding when shipping to the United States.

In the United States, it is a federal crime to interfere with the mail sent through the USPS. It is also illegal to harass someone because of differing religious beliefs. Here we have what appear to be postal workers interfering with the post for the purpose of harassing for religious beliefs. Keep this in mind when you are shipping Asatru goods.

If you see this sort of thing happening, try to record it and report it to the authorities and the media as soon as you can. Remember that we need to stop these people or they will continue to abuse their positions in order to abuse others. It will help to nail them is you refer to them as ignorant hicks, not general Christians; otherwise the other Christians will be sympathetic to them and not you. In addition, there is no need for you to go out of your way to mention that you are not Christian. You are just a citizen reporting a crime. You are just pointing out illegal, stupid, un-American activity.

We have a long way to go before we rid the world of this sort of nonsense. Through perseverance and technology, we will weed out these miscreants. We will educate the ones who simply don't know better. We must, however, remain vigilant.
