Inauguration 2017

On Friday, January 20, 2017, Donald Trump was sworn in as the forty-fifth president of the United States of America. This has made many people very uncomfortable. I've heard, over time, that some non-Christians have concerns about a Republican government, and Trump in particular. I decided to go to the quiet place to see if there was any advice coming from there.

New Forum Topic

The news is full of politics, some of it fairly hostile. Because we are going to have to deal with all of this nonsense, I've added a new forum just for political discussion.

I would ask that you be civil and respectful of others, even when there is a disagreement.

You can find the forum here: http://vidarsgothi.org/politicsforum

Looming Fiscal Cliff

For those in the United States there is the looming issue of the so-called Fiscal Cliff. This is ending of a set of tax rules that will automatically set tax rates up for most people and remove a great deal of deductions and exemptions. Many are afraid about what this will do to businesses, jobs, and the pocketbook. Others are just worried about how messed up a government must be to get into such a position.

Elections Coming Up

Elections come soon in the United States. There are many local, state, and Congressional seats up for grabs, but people focus on the presidential election. As a matter of propriety, I will not tell you how to cast your vote; you should be smart enough to do that yourself. However, I will put out a few things to think about.
