Bicycle

Bicycles have been around for quite a while. They are a healthy option that is also environmentally friendly. Even better, most bicycles are inexpensive, though there are exceptions.

As healthful as bicycle riding can be, there are also dangers. Always wear a helmet and, if possible, bright colors or reflective gear. The bright colors help motorists see you and avoid running you over. The helmet is there for any number of possible accidents.

Be sure to check with your doctor before starting cycling. It is a form of exercise and has all the risks normally associated with exercise. Unless there is something particularly wrong with your health, most doctors will applaud your new activity.

Also be sure to check your local laws. In some municipalities it is legal to ride on the sidewalks, but not in every town. In some areas, you will need to register your bike and apply a numbered sticker, similar to a license plate. These registrations are used to help identify stolen bicycles, so it really is in your best interest, provided that you acquired your bike legally.
